CHANGE OF WATER CONSUMPTION HABITS IN KROKIALAUKIS COMMUNITY
Participants of the Erasmus + project “Drop
of water – reflection of cultures” analysed reasons and consequences of climate change, indirect use of terrestrial
water, discussed why groundwater
does not
fill wells, why lakes and rivers have depleted, and looked for ways to save
water at home, also prepared water saving and responsible use of water
recommendations and introduced them to the inhabitants of Krokialaukis village. They distributed leaflets
to the population of the village, also sticked posters in public places, shops,
gymnasium.
The survey showed that data provided by participants and recommendations have done impact on the inhabitants of the village. Residents claim that they have become more responsible with water and started to save it. They do not need to limit their basic needs, but they have learned to make small changes in behavior to achieve a big reduction in water consumption : allow water from the tap with lower current, turn off the tap while brushing teeth or soaping hands, after washing fruit and vegetables use the water for watering flowers, etc.
